![]() If you have hunderds listed with ESTABLISHED your Pc may be highjacked by spyware, virus, backdoors etc. But the only things that should have established would be the IP address to this forum (or listed as CLOSED_WAIT), your routers address and the DNS servers on the ISP. If you have 127.0.0.0 listed, in both Local Address and Foreign generally thats normal. Where ESTABLISHED indicates you currently have a connection open to the address in the middle column (Foreign address). LISTENING meange you have something running on the PC that is waiting for a connections. Look in the last column, for LISTENING, ESTABLISHED ![]() close every application you have, messanger, chat whatever. How about shutting down the shoutcast server and see what happens. The DNAS is an unlikely culprit, but you may need to look at WinAMP.Ĭaching is a "performnce" enhancement that consumes disk space as if it were an endless quantity - it is only a good thing if you need it. I shouldn't have to say this, but IM apps (Y! messenger) also cache "conversations" - if you use these features, your free disk space will slowly decay - it all depends on how much you "chat." There may be many, so check them all.Īlso, other apps use the TEMP= and TMP= directories and never clean them out, so check them as well - %WinDir%/TEMP is often filled with a lot of junk as well.Ĭheck your apps for stuff that's not needed - ie: some media players like RealOne cache "live" streams to who knows where on disk, you may want to turn this option off if you don't need it. The probable culprit is the browser cache - even if you "clean" it out, alas, the data still remains, hidden, to all but the most intrusive eye - it's a special "super hidden" tree that should contain every object you have ever viewed in IE. I doubt that the log could get that big, but it really depends on how big it is (?), how active your server is, and how much free space you have left (?) - the DNAS will not write any other files that you don't know about.
